Clint Eastwood Has Another Empty Chair Moment, Claims Trump’s Racism Shouldn’t Offend Anyone
Clint Eastwood Is With Trump
If you are one of the many Americans who find Donald Trump’s rampant racism offensive, then Clint Eastwood thinks you are a pussy and you should “just fucking get over it.”
So, it’s official. Clint Eastwood has officially become his own character from Gran Torino and is now America’s racist uncle.
But what can you expect from a doddering old man who mercilessly harangued an empty chair on the national stage during the 2008 Republican National Convention? Bless his heart, he thought he was talking to President Barrack Obama. And now Clint Eastwood, without a chair to scold, wants to take the “pussy generation” to task for being “too politically correct!” which is old-man-speak for “I want to be openly racist and I don’t want to take any flak for it, either!”
And so Eastwood is throwing his support behind Donald Trump because, Eastwood says, Trump is “onto something” because “he’s just saying what’s on his mind.” You know, just like your racist uncle.
“[Trump is] onto something, because secretly everybody’s getting tired of political correctness, kissing up. That’s the kiss-ass generation we’re in right now. We’re really in a pussy generation. Everybody’s walking on eggshells. We see people accusing people of being racist and all kinds of stuff. When I grew up, those things weren’t called racist.”
Racist? What’s Racist?
Oh, back in the day when black people drank from a separate water fountain, you mean? That was still racist.
Of course, even Eastwood knows that Trump’s big plan of simply vomiting out whatever pops into that little, twisted mind of his has its flaws.
“[S]ometimes it’s not so good,” Eastwood said during his interview with Esquire. “And sometimes it’s … I mean, I can understand where he’s coming from, but I don’t always agree with it.”
Eastwood made a stab at defending Trump’s racism.
“You know, he’s a racist now because he’s talked about this judge. And yeah, it’s a dumb thing to say. I mean, to predicate your opinion on the fact that the guy was born to Mexican parents or something. He’s said a lot of dumb things. So have all of them. Both sides. But everybody—the press and everybody’s going, ‘Oh, well, that’s racist,’ and they’re making a big hoodoo out of it. Just fucking get over it. It’s a sad time in history.”
Or, in other words, yes, Trump is openly racist and it would be best for everyone if he kept some of that racism a little more quiet but really, his racism isn’t that big of a deal, and also, it’s the media’s fault. People being offended by racism is sadder than racism itself.
What’s ironic, though, is that, in the very same interview, Clint Eastwood also gave this advice:
“Keep your eyes open and your big mouth shut.”
Maybe he and Trump both should heed that advice.
