CNN’s Chris Cuomo Makes Trump Adviser SQUIRM When He Asks About Tax Records
CNN’s Chris Cuomo was in a feisty mood when he grilled Jason Miller, Donald Trump’s communications director after Miller called on Hillary Clinton to release all of her emails.
Cuomo zeroed in
The interview centered on FBI Director James Comey’s announcement that he has decided not to recommend charges against Clinton, despite his controversial letter to lawmakers in late October, in which he wrote that he was reopening the investigation into Clinton’s emails.
“[Donald Trump is] calling James Comey a liar!” Cuomo fired off, noting Trump’s unwillingness to believe the recently discovered 650,000 emails have already been investigated.
While Miller didn’t call Comey a liar, he instead said this:
“It doesn’t pass the smell test,” and he reiterated that he “doesn’t accept [the outcome].”
“No, don’t accept it — they should release all the emails, let us have a look before Election Day,” Miller continued. “We think that would be the smart thing to do.”
Cuomo, who hosts CNN’s New Day, launched into the Trump campaign for its hypocrisy.
“You love transparency when it’s not you guys,” Cuomo said. “You don’t see any irony in that?” Why don’t you release Trump’s taxes if you think transparency is such a good thing?”
“As soon as his audit is completed, those will be released,” Miller said.
Cuomo wasn’t sold on this idea, and pressed on. He called on Trump to release his emails — or his tax records.

“You think anybody believes the audit thing going to the polls tomorrow?” Cuomo asked.
“Absolutely,” Miller said.
Cuomo pressed further.
“Do you have any proof of an audit?”
“Yes, of course,” Miller said with a nervous laugh.
“Yeah?” Cuomo asked. “You do? Have you seen an audit letter?”
Miller, squirming, tried to dodge the question
“Chris, let’s not get away from the fact — “ he began.
“That is the fact, though, right?” Cuomo said. “Transparency only works one way in this election where Trump is involved.
Then Cuomo offered to show Miller an audit letter he’d received.
“Well, some day when I get to make as much money as you do, then we’ll go take a look,” Miller responded.
“I don’t know what you’re making,” Cuomo said while laughing, “I hope you’re getting paid a lot for this.”
I would have added “if you get paid,” since Trump has a history of not paying people.

And while I despise Donald Trump, I do believe the American people should be able to look at all of Clinton’s emails AND Trump’s taxes. This would be a small step in allowing us to make informed decisions about candidates without having to rely on countless hours of research.
Trump is the only candidate since former president Gerald R. Ford (in 1976) to not release his taxes, Politifact reports.
And it’s truly a shame he hasn’t done this, because it would offer useful information on his effective tax rate, what types of taxes he paid and how much he gave to charity. And believe me, that’s been a huge issue leading up to the election. This would also offer us a detailed picture of what assets he holds.
If someone is going to run this country for four years and do things that affect much of the rest of the world, voters have the right to know what they are getting into.
