Kellyanne Conway Lashes Out At Streep Over Golden Globe Speech

Kellyanne Conway Lashes Out At Meryl Streep After Epic Golden Globe Speech (VIDEO)

Trump’s Mocking Of A Disabled Reporter Was An Incident Meryl Streep is Not Willing To Let Him Forget Any Time Soon

By now, there are few people who haven’t at least heard about Meryl Streep’s well received speech at the Golden Globes on Sunday where she epically ripped Donald Trump without evening mentioning her name. She used her time when accepting the Cecil B. DeMille Award to call out Trump on his rhetoric about immigrants, his attack on the press and his mocking of a disabled reporter.

And, predictably, as Raw Story reports, Streep’s words didn’t go down with Donald Trump’s campaign manager Kellyanne Conway who came out swinging on ‘Fox and Friends’ on Monday morning.

“We have to now form a government, and I’m concerned that somebody with a platform like Meryl Streep is also, I think, inciting people’s worst instincts. When she won’t get up there and say, ‘I don’t like it, but let’s try to support him and see where we can find some common ground with him, which [Trump] has actually done from moment one.”

Of all of the points made by Meryl Streep, the one that seems to have hit Donald Trump and Kellyanne Conway the hardest is when she called the PEOTUS out on his mocking of New York Times reporter Serge Kovaleski, who happens to be disabled.

“…[T]here was one performance this year that stunned me. It sank its hooks in my heart. Not because it was good; there was nothing good about it. But it was effective and it did its job. It made its intended audience laugh, and show their teeth. It was that moment when the person asking to sit in the most respected seat in our country imitated a disabled reporter. Someone he outranked in privilege, power and the capacity to fight back. It kind of broke my heart when I saw it, and I still can’t get it out of my head, because it wasn’t in a movie. It was real life.”

For his part, Trump denies that he mocked the reporter, despite the fact that it is on tape and obvious to pretty much anyone who watches it. And, as is her duty, Kellyanne Conway is backing him up on this claim. As Business Insider UK reports, this led to sparks between Conway and Chris Cuomo on CNN over the issue, with Kellyanne accusing Cuomo of being too harsh on Trump.

“You should give him the deference and respect — if he said he was not mocking, he was mocking the groveling. You’re saying you don’t believe him. You’re calling him a liar and you shouldn’t.”
