Obama’s Birth State Defies Trump – Signs Paris Climate Accord Bill
hawaii becomes one of 12 states forming new ‘climate alliance’
Hawaii delivered a slap in the face to Trump’s anti-climate stance this week with Tuesday’s signing of a bill to honor criteria within the Paris Climate Accord, despite Trump’s pull-out from the global climate initiative last week. Hawaii’s governor, David Ige, signed the Senate bill on Tuesday. He named Hawaii’s unique ecology as his motivation to combat climate change.
“We are the testing grounds. … are especially aware of the limits of our natural environment, Tides are getting higher, biodiversity is shrinking, coral is bleaching, coastlines are eroding, weather is becoming more extreme. We must acknowledge these realities at home. That is why Hawaii is united in its political leadership on tackling climate change.”
State Sen. J. Kalani English introduced the bill, which convenes a commission on climate change and explores ways to combat rising sea levels. The new law commits to the reduction of greenhouse gases in alignment with the goals in The Paris Climate Accord. Senator English says the bill is exactly what Hawaii needs.
“(The law) gives us legal basis to continue adaptation and mitigation strategies for Hawaii, despite the Federal government’s withdrawal from the treaty.”
Trump withdrew from the Paris Climate Accord last week amid a backlash of criticism at home and abroad yet used his pending decision as Tweet bait for his supporters.
I will be announcing my decision on Paris Accord, Thursday at 3:00 P.M. The White House Rose Garden. MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!

He cited constraints on American jobs as the primary reason for dumping the accord. But in the past,he’s said enough about climate change to indicate he has little concern over man’s affect on our planet. If climate change is a Chinese induced hoax, as Trump has claimed, then it’s the greatest hoax ever perpetrated on the planet. In direct defiance of his outlandish pull-out of the Paris climate deal, Hawaii has become one of 12 American states joining in coalition to uphold the Paris Accord through the United States Climate Alliance. A recent press release explained the purpose of the alliance.
“In response to President Trump’s decision to withdraw from the Paris Accord, Washington Gov. Jay Inslee, New York Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo, and California Gov. Edmund G. Brown Jr. formed the Alliance to convene U.S. states committed to achieving the U.S. goal of reducing emissions 26-28 percent from 2005 levels and meeting or exceeding the targets of the federal Clean Power Plan.”
Apparently Hawaii has no love lost for the president. In Federal court there one of the first attempts at passing Trump’s travel ban was killed.
