Fox’s Ablow: Let Men ‘Veto’ Abortions

Fox News Misogynist…er Psychiatrist Keith Ablow doesn’t have time for your reproductive freedom!

On Tuesday, the curiously employed Ablow went all get-back-in-the-kitchen on reproductive rights. On the Fox News show “Outnumbered”, Ablow unveiled a bold new concept for the year 1955, stating

“I think men should be able to veto women’s abortions if they’re willing to care for the child after it’s born.”

Ah, the levers of democracy! Drop the bunting and cue up the Battle Hymn of the Republic!

Ablow’s attempt to get veto power on mansplainin’ reproductive rights came at an interesting time, since the conversation was about the frozen embryos of Sofia Vergara and her ex-fiance Nick Loeb, not abortion. But why let context get in the way of a good non-sequitur rant?

Speaking of ‘Modern Family’ star Sofia Vergara’s ex-fiancé’s legal attempt to take control of her frozen embryos, Ablow said she “does not have 2% credibility on this matter”.

“The bottom line is, why would a woman’s right to decide what to do with a frozen embryo trump a man’s right every time?” he quipped. “If he wants to bring these embryos to term, good for him. He wants to parent. If he wants to have them adopted, good for him. It’s not a coin toss. It’s whoever wants that potential being to survive. That’s who wins.”

Damn women, getting all opinionated about their bodies!

“Interesting when it comes to her choices, she wants all the control.”

Well, yeah?

A few thoughts:

Will the veto need to be notarized and filed with city hall?

If the man wants to bring these embryos to term, then what?

If the man is “willing” to care for the child, is that the same as being “able”? I’m sure in his rare lucid moments even John Phillips thought he was father of the year material.

If the man is willing to care for the child, then changes his mind after the child is born, is he then entitled to yell, “PSYCHE!!!”?

If the woman loses the veto, can she override it? Does the man get a medal?

How is Dr. Keith Ablow employed?

Reproductive rights are a broad and complex spectrum of emotion and reality. Ensuring that the man has veto power of a woman’s body and choices is an asinine and insulting idea. No wonder it was voiced on Fox News.
