Watch Trump totally disrespect flag, imply solemn military bugle ‘retreat’ ceremony was for him
Trump Disrespects Flag
After days of haranguing NFL players who are respectfully taking a knee during the National Anthem in protest, Donald Trump blatantly disrespected the flag and the entire military in a flagrant display of narcissism.
And just to add a heaping dash of irony to the already blazing pile of hypocrisy, Sean Hannity did it, too. You know, Mr. God-Bless-America himself.
Hannity interviewed Trump in a hangar at the Air National Guard Base at the Harrisburg International Airport. And between his perpetual butt-kissing and gently lobbed softball questions to the easily-upset Donald Trump, a bugle rang out, playing Retreat.
For those not familiar with Retreat, it’s defined as follow:
“The retreat ceremony serves a twofold purpose. It signals the end of the official duty day and serves as a ceremony for paying respect to the flag.”
When Retreat is played, cars pull over. Service member and their families step out and stand up. The following protocol is observed:
“During the playing of reveille and retreat, uniformed military personnel should stand at attention and face the American flag, or the direction of the music if a flag is not visible. If reveille or retreat is followed by the national anthem or “To the Color,” military personnel should salute (during the entirety of the song).
“Military personnel and veterans who are present but not in uniform may salute when outdoors [during reveille and retreat] or stand at parade rest. Civilians should stand at attention and place their right hand – with a hat if they’re wearing one – over their heart. All vehicles on military installations should come to a complete stop and wait until the last note of the music stops. Military members in their vehicles should sit at attention.”
Donald Trump Wonders If Bugle Is For Him
Donald Trump, that flag-protecting warrior, that stars-and-stripes-hugging idiot, did none of that. Instead, he continued to laugh and chat, then referred to the bugle playing as a “nice sound.” He then wondered if it was playing for him or for Hannity, and then decided the bugle was sounding in some sort of celebration of Hannity’s ratings.
Yes. This all really happened. And for all the “fake news!” screamers, here it is, on video.
But please, President Trump, continue to tell the NFL that they are unpatriotic while you yourself disgrace the flag, the entire military, and our country.
