If Someone Tells You The Immigration Ban ‘Isn’t About Muslims’, Show Them This Official Statement
Yes, The Muslim Ban Is Absolutely All About Banning Muslims
Just when we think we’ve heard it all before from our Republican counterparts, they are now, with straight faces, claiming that the current ban on Muslims put into place by Donald Trump is not really a ban on Muslims, even though it specifically bans people from Muslim countries and was signed by a man who literally campaigned on a Muslim ban.
Two years ago, this would have seemed crazy. But now, in Year One of the Trump Presidency, rife with blatant falsehoods desperately pawned off as “alternative facts,” it simply seems par for the course.
But facts still matter. The truth is still important. Now more than ever, perhaps.
So when our right-wing, Trump supporting friends begin to make the incomprehensible claim that Donald Trump’s recent ban on Muslims is something besides the obvious ban on Muslims, point them in this direction, and allow them to read this statement, made by none other than Donald J. Trump himself, on December 7, 2015.
(And just in case they claim “false news,” or “evil liberal media!” – here’s the link to the statement, which is found on the official Trump/Pence website. Surely it’ll be hard even for a Republican to claim that Trump himself is lying about his Muslim ban, right? Never mind – don’t answer that.)
And Here’s The Proof…Twice
Donald J. Trump is calling for a total and complete shutdown of Muslims entering the United States until our country’s representatives can figure out what is going on. According to Pew Research, among others, there is great hatred towards Americans by large segments of the Muslim population. Most recently, a poll from the Center for Security Policy released data showing “25% of those polled agreed that violence against Americans here in the United States is justified as a part of the global jihad” and 51% of those polled, “agreed that Muslims in America should have the choice of being governed according to Shariah.” Shariah authorizes such atrocities as murder against non-believers who won’t convert, beheadings and more unthinkable acts that pose great harm to Americans, especially women.
Mr. Trump stated, “Without looking at the various polling data, it is obvious to anybody the hatred is beyond comprehension. Where this hatred comes from and why we will have to determine. Until we are able to determine and understand this problem and the dangerous threat it poses, our country cannot be the victims of horrendous attacks by people that believe only in Jihad, and have no sense of reason or respect for human life. If I win the election for President, we are going to Make America Great Again.” – Donald J. Trump
And just in case that still isn’t enough, here’s some video of the man himself, reading the above statement.
This Muslim ban? It is 100% a ban on Muslims. Don’t let them tell you otherwise – and don’t let them try to convince themselves, either.
