Watch Kellyanne Conway Get Cornered Over Lies by Chris Cuomo in Hard-Hitting Interview
Kellyanne Conway Stumbles Over Lies
Someone let Kellyanne Conway out of the White House for another bout of interviews – and they probably regret it.
Her falsehood-filled tour began Sunday night, when she seemed to expand on President Trump’s paranoid claim that the Obama administration wiretapped his phones prior to the election. And, much like her boss, Kellyanne Conway didn’t see the need to provide any sort of evidence or support.
During that interview, Conway implied that the surveillance of the Trump campaign was both broader and deeper than Trump’s own unsubstantiated claims.
“What I can say is there are many ways to surveil each other. You can surveil someone through their phones, certainly through their television sets — any number of different ways.”
She mentioned, too, “microwaves that turn into cameras,” before adding, “We know this is a fact of modern life.”
Cuomo Holds Kellyanne Conway Accountable
But those are words she probably regretted during her interview Monday morning with CNN’s Chris Cuomo on New Day. When asked about her rather paranoid interview, Kellyanne Conway pushed back, claiming she was simply “answering a question about surveillance techniques generally.”
Her answer wasn’t enough for Cuomo, who reminded her that her answer was in response to a question that was “asked specifically” rather than generally.
Cornered and growing angry, Kellyanne Conway snapped, stating she was not responsible for providing any proof.
“I’m not Inspector Gadget. I don’t believe people are using the microwave to spy on the Trump campaign. However, I’m not in the job of having evidence; that’s what investigations are for.”
Cuomo also brought up the never-ending controversy over the Trump campaign officials’ deep ties with Russian politicians. He stated that “this seems to be a distraction” from that very real controversy.
Again, Conway grew angry. And again, Cuomo persisted, not allowing her to simply lie her way out of it.
“Maybe (it seems that way) to you and maybe to other people who don’t necessarily want Donald Trump to be president, but to other people, they see it as what it was — talking about news articles and talking about surveillance generally,” Conway said. She then began to complain that every day, the media was bringing up the Russian connections, yet nothing has ever been found.
That, Cuomo pointed out deftly, is because the investigation has yet to be started.
The idea that the investigation into those Russian connections hasn’t yet started seemed to startle Kellyanne Conway.
