Journalists Across Industry Tear Into ‘Authoritative Dictator’ Donald Trump After 1st Amendment Threat

Republican Donald Trump has made it clear he doesn’t like the 1st Amendment idea of a free press. Any time he finds a story that he doesn’t like, he tends to throw a public fit and fall back on his go-to phrase of “Fake News”. But occasionally those fits manifest into something more menacing. And his latest threat to a media outlet over a critical story immediately grabbed the attention of reporters across the industry.

NBC News posted an explosive story this morning further explaining the reason Secretary of State Rex Tillerson reportedly called Trump a “moron”. The outlet reported that Trump asked for a “tenfold increase” in the number of nuclear weapons during a tense meeting with military leaders in July. NBC News had broke the story last week that Tillerson had made his comments about the president after that meeting.

In typical Trump fashion, he took to Twitter to attack NBC in multiple messages. His latest message included a clear threat to attempt to silence the network for its critical story. He posted:

Fake made up a story that I wanted a “tenfold” increase in our U.S. nuclear arsenal. Pure fiction, made up to demean. NBC = CNN!

With all of the Fake News coming out of NBC and the Networks, at what point is it appropriate to challenge their License? Bad for country!

The danger to the 1st Amendment is rather apparent and reporters from numerous outlets did not waste time calling Trump out for the obvious threat. And many couldn’t help but note the similarity to a certain Russian leader who has been accused of having critical journalists killed for their reporting.

It’s clear Donald Trump and his obvious narcissism can’t take it when the going gets tough. Any time a report comes out of his behind-the-scenes, child-like behavior, he throws a public tantrum for the media doing its most important job.

It might have been reasonable to expect Trump to have learned being under the microscope as president was going to be tough at this point. But it has become abundantly clear he isn’t learning a thing. And his fits of anger are becoming a potential menace to the public’s Constitutional rights.
