Trump Seeks to Ignore Rule of Law, Impose Muslim Travel Ban Despite Court Ruling

Trump Defiantly Admits That Yes, It Is A Muslim Travel Ban

Donald Trump is throwing away the arguments that his own lawyers and advisers and aides have used in their attempts to get the infamous “Muslim travel ban” through the  courts.

After numerous claims that the Muslim travel ban was neither a ban nor focused on Muslims, Trump obliterated his own arguments in an early morning Twitter storm. And this wasn’t an unintentional unraveling of his own arguments. This was a flagrant disregard for rule of law. This was an open embrace of a ban based on religion. And, as such, this is proof of a president who neither understands the Constitution, or cares to even learn.

“People, the lawyers and the courts can call it whatever they want, but I am calling it what we need and what it is, a TRAVEL BAN!” Trump proclaimed on Twitter.

He then added, “In any event we are EXTREME VETTING people coming into the US in order to help keep our country safe. The courts are slow and political!”

Say Good-Bye To The ‘Travel Pause’ Argument

Department of Homeland Security Secretary John Kelly called it a “travel pause” in earlier defenses of the Muslim travel ban, and claimed vehemently that the judges who say the orders are in direct violation of the Constitution are “dead wrong.”

“The fact is that in those countries, we have very little ability to actually verify, vet the people that are coming out of those countries. So, what the president and it’s not a travel ban, remember. It’s a travel pause. What the president said, for 90 days, we were going to pause in terms of people from those countries coming to the United States that would give me time to look at additional vetting…”

Now he, and others who have defended Trump by trying to paint his Muslim travel ban as anything but a Muslim travel ban, are left looking foolish as their president defiantly admits that yes, what he is calling for is an actual Muslim travel ban.

And in case you didn’t understand what he was saying in the first tweet, Trump really wants you to know that he absolutely wants to ban Muslims from entry into the United States, and to say otherwise is simply being “politically correct.”

And then, because he’s Trump, he thinks that judges upholding the actual Constitution is “being political.”

Trump has no regard for his advisers, his staff, his lawyers – and certainly no regard for the Constitution. And today, with a handful of tweets, he went out of his way to prove it.
