Trump Targets Obama With Demented Twitter Rant, Makes Paranoid Claims About Wiretaps

Donald Trump Delves Deep Into Paranoia

President Donald Trump accused former president Barack Obama of wiretapping him in an early morning Twitter tirade, fueled by right-wing conspiracy theories and paranoia.

For clarity, here are the tweets as they should be read.

“The first meeting Jess Sessions had with the Russian amb was set up by the Obama administration under education for 100 ams…terrible! Just found out that Obama had my [phones] “wires tapped” in Trump Tower just before the victory. Nothing found. This is McCarthyism! Just out: The same Russian Ambassador that met Jeff Sessions visited the Obama White House 22 times, and 4 times last year alone. Is it legal for a sitting President to be “wire tapping” a race for president prior to an election? Turned down by court earlier. A NEW LOW! I’d bet a good lawyer could make a great case out of the fact that President Obama was tapping my phones in October, just prior to Election!”

Let’s just begin by reiterating something that is becoming increasingly important in these days of a Trump presidency.

This is not normal. This is not normal. And this is not normal.

Trump’s ‘Sources’ May Be Right Wing Websites

Of course, when it comes to offering evidence of any of that, Trump has none. But Axios posited a theory that seems to fit a growing – and concerning – pattern that President Trump seems to follow. If you find yourself confused about Trump’s latest rip, it may be best to see what’s being said on the ultra-conservative websites that Trump seems to trust – like Breitbart.

“If you’re confused by the series of tweets on Obama, it’s best to check out the conservative media zeitgeist. Over at Breitbart, Joel Pollack riffs off a Mark Levin rant accusing Obama of orchestrating a “silent coup” vs Trump. Pollack ties together a story line from the Obama administration filing a request to monitor potential Trump/Russia contacts in July of 2016 (denied) to a second filing in the fall of 2016, to a loosening of NSA sharing rules in January of 2016, to the leaks of today. It’s quite a thread.”

And from that Breitbart article:

“The Obama administration submits a new, narrow request to the FISA court, now focused on a computer server in Trump Tower suspected of links to Russian banks. No evidence is found — but the wiretaps continue…”

NYT, WaPo Continue To Dog Trump Administration – And He Is Scared

As our current President seems to be gathering his daily intelligence from right wing websites that are not credible, the actual, credible media – which he has tried desperately to paint as “fake news” – continues to nail the current administration over the deepening connections to Russia. On Saturday morning, the New York Times leads with the headline Washington, With Moscow On Its Mind while the Washington Post front page reminds its readers that Russian Contacts Haunt Trump.

In other words, the President may continue to fall back on his strange sources, and attempt to deflect with rising hysteria and paranoia, but those very sources he has spent months maligning and combatting are hot on his trail…

And there is nothing he can do about it. It’s little wonder he wants us to think of them as “the enemy of the people.”

Our president is absolutely terrified right now.

But just to let America know where his mind is really at, POTUS capped off his early morning performance with one final tweet.

Yes, this is really happening.

Tweets screen captured and preserved below – just in case a White House official manages to convince the President that his paranoid-fueled Twitter rant makes the office of the Presidency look bad. It’s doubtful, but stranger things have happened. After all, look who is in the White House.
