Ana Navarro to Trump: As Commander in Chief “you do not fight with the family of a dead soldier!”
Trump Takes the Low Road Yet Again When it Comes to a Gold Star Military Family
Trump just loves going to war with people, and he doesn’t care who they are. And once again, he has decided to get into a battle with the family of a gold star soldier. And, it is disgusting to say the least. This man is the Commander-in-Chief. And yet, he can’t even manage to not fight with the grieving family of U.S. Army Sgt. La David Johnson? Seriously?
Trump already got into a ridiculous high-profile battle with Khizr Khan and Ghazala Khan, parents of gold star soldier Humayun Khan, and at that time was rightly skewered even within his own party. As CNN reports, Senator John McCain, a veteran and former POW who has also been a victim of Trump’s callous rhetoric against soldiers, came to the defence of the Khan family last year before Trump was elected as President.
“It is time for Donald Trump to set the example for our country and the future of the Republican Party. While our Party has bestowed upon him the nomination, it is not accompanied by unfettered license to defame those who are the best among us….I’d like to say to Mr. and Mrs. Khan: thank you for immigrating to America. We’re a better country because of you. And you are certainly right; your son was the best of America, and the memory of his sacrifice will make us a better nation — and he will never be forgotten.”
Apparently, Trump didn’t listen to a wise word McCain said, and he has decided, once again, to be a jerk towards the family of a man who sacrificed his life for the country.
According to Salon, in a phone call to Myeshia Johnson, whose husband was recently killed in Niger, Trump said that, “He knew what he signed up for . . . but when it happens it hurts anyway.” Who one earth says that to a grieving widow, who, to top it off, is pregnant with the couple’s third child?! Oh, right, Trump does. The man has the sensitivity of a dead skunk.
But, Trump claims that he didn’t say this, basically calling Mrs. Johnson a liar, along with Florida Democratic Rep. Frederica Wilson who criticized Trump for his idiocy. That’s right. He’s calling a woman with a broken heart because her husband died that she is a liar. What kind of so-called “Commander-in-Chief” does that?? Oh ya, we covered that already. Trump does that.
“I just cannot bring myself to understand how a Commander-in-Chief can see the sight of a pregnant wife draped over her husband — her dead soldier husband’s coffin and still have the gall to get into a fight with Frederica Wilson and with the soldier’s mother, who is now confirming her account of what happened.”
Ya, no kidding. This should be common sense. This is something often referred to as EMPATHY. Clearly, Trump is completely devoid of this particular trait and sees nothing wrong with fighting with people when they are hurting the most.
Navarro continued to condemn Trump, looking almost as if she wanted to reach through the TV screen and wring Trump’s neck right then and there.
“You do not fight with a family of a dead soldier. You do not throw out the name of your chief of staff’s dead son’s name in order to make a political point. You do not attack John McCain, a national hero, just to make a political point. He did all these things on the same damn day!”
But, seriously, does anyone expect anything better from Trump? Is it really all that surprising that he would do something like this? Sadly, the answer is no.
