Hillary Clinton Unleashes Powerful Must-Read Tweet Storm Against GOP’s ‘Perverse Priorities’

2016 Democratic Presidential Nominee Hillary Clinton, the former Secretary of State and First Lady who was very nearly our President instead of Donald Trump, lashed out today against the Republican party’s “perverse priorites” (a subtle jab at the Republican party’s problem with supporting pervy politicians like President Trump, and Roy Moore). Clinton, who actually won the popular vote for the Presidency, but lost on the technicality of the Electoral College, started her diatribe like this:

She then noted, rather pointedly, that the GOP is now doing, under President Trump’s leadership, exactly what she warned they would do: yanking the rug out from under the poor and the middle class to give pointless handouts to the rich.

“I warned that the R’s would come after Social Security, Medicare, & Medicaid & now they are.”
“I warned that the R’s would come after Social Security, Medicare, & Medicaid & now they are,” Clinton wrote, after beginning her criticism by pointing out that Congress seems content to let the Children’s Health Insurance Program, or CHIP, on which 9 million children rely (in many cases, for their survival) expire. And then she pointed out the real evil at the core of it all, “so-called tax reform – a giveaway for those who least need it.”

And then the former First Lady, former Senator and former Secretary of State who former President Obama called the most qualified person ever to run for the Presidency, called on YOU to take action. “Call your House and Senate members at 202-224-3121 and tell them to take care of kids now and protect our seniors, the poor & vulnerable from future attacks,” Clinton wrote, “Tell them that it’s the very least they can do.”

Here’s the full text of the whole Tweetstorm:

There’s a lot to be frustrated by right now, to say the least. Here’s something that we should be able to fix.

The Children’s Health Insurance Program, which provides health care for 9 million kids & has been reauthorized on a bipartisan basis every year for almost 2 decades, is hanging in limbo because Congress let it expire over 2 months ago.

Meanwhile, Senate Republicans rushed to pass so-called tax reform – a giveaway for those who least need it.

It gets worse. During the campaign I warned that the R’s would come after Social Security, Medicare, & Medicaid & now they are. Imagine buying a Rolex & paying for it with money you saved to take care of your kids. That’s what Congress is doing w/ your tax dollars.

How is it that in the middle of dividing up $1.5 trillion dollars between corporations & the ultra-wealthy, Republicans can’t find the time & money to take care of children? These are perverse priorities. Congress needs to pass CHIP now, as they have every year since the 1990s.

So in these surreal times, let’s rally together & take action. Call your House and Senate members at 202-224-3121 and tell them to take care of kids now and protect our seniors, the poor & vulnerable from future attacks. Tell them that it’s the very least they can do.

I’m going to keep tweeting about this, and speaking out every chance I get, until it is fixed.

Let’s hope a lot of people follow her lead, and speak up too. Once again, the number to call is (202) 224-3121. The ball is in your court, America.
