Wash. Gov. Inslee Welcomes Syrian Refugees, unlike GOPers

Unlike 21 Heartless GOP Governors, This Democrat WELCOMES Syrian Refugees (VIDEO)

While GOP -run states ban Syrian refugees, Washington state’s democratic Gov. Jay Inslee welcomes them with open arms.

Still think both parties are the same? Then why is it that 21 callous and xenophobic Republican governors across our nation jump the gun and go out of their way to declare Syrian refugees unwelcome in their states, while Governors from saner and less mean states hang back and weigh their responses with good reason:

For starters, even if any of the Syrian refugees had anything to do with the terrorist attacks on Beirut and Paris, they’d be a tiny minority. Secondly, the pressure on national borders has barely even reached the U.S. So far, barely 2,000 Syrian refugees have even found their way to our shores This in spite of the fact that botched U.S. foreign policy helped create this crisis in the first place.

KIRO 7 reports Washington state’s Democratic governor Jay Inslee bucked this unfortunate trend and announced that Syrian refugees are welcome in his state.

” I stand firmly with President Obama who said [Monday] morning: ‘We do not close our hearts to these victims of such violence and somehow start equating the issue of refugees with the issue of terrorism.'”

Gov. Inslee adds:

“Washington will continue to be a state that welcomes those seeking refuge from persecution regardless of where they come from or the religion they practice.”

What a breath of fresh air, Other states that have have officially stated that Syrian refugees are welcome — all run by Democratic governors — include: Connecticut, Hawaii, Kentucky, Minnesota, and Pennsylvania.

Anny Kahn, a Pakistani-American and devout Muslim from Renton, Wash., supports Gov. Inslee and declares:

“We basically feel that it is our moral obligation to help refugees out.”

Furthermore, she explains, her neighbors need not fear for their safety if we open our borders to more Syrian refugees. By the time they get here, they’ve already been in refugee camps forever, and have been screened up the wazoo.

“It’s not like a Syrian walked out from Syria and is coming to Washington state today. No. These people have been in refugee camps for two years, four years. And they’re going through these background screenings.”

In any case, it shouldn’t matter where the Syrian refugees are from or what religion they practice. As Kahn told KIRO-7:

“I would like to say, as an American, that our people should not feed into the Islamophobia, the xenophobia that’s out there. “
