Comey Slams GOP’s Silence On Trump’s Dangerous Attacks on Law Enforcement
Comey is standing up to Trump again
On Tuesday, Trump tweeted out a message insane even by his increasingly low standards in which he accused the Justice Department of being apart of the “deep state” and once again championed imprisoning people associated with “crooked Hillary,” in this case her aide Huma Abedin:
Crooked Hillary Clinton’s top aid, Huma Abedin, has been accused of disregarding basic security protocols. She put Classified Passwords into the hands of foreign agents. Remember sailors pictures on submarine? Jail! Deep State Justice Dept must finally act? Also on Comey & others

The “deep state”, for those that have forgotten, is a conspiracy theory propagated by conservative misinformation peddlers like Sean Hannity and other Trump supporters that claims there is a shadow government secretly working against Donald Trump to undermine him. Basically, it’s the absurd notion that anyone in the government who is following the law, as opposed to doing the Trump Administration’s dictatorial bidding, is part of a secret shadow government.
As CNN pointed out, Trump’s comments regarding putting “Classified Passwords into the hands of foreign agents” is evidently a reference to a report from The Daily Caller, a right-wing rag made to appeal to the same delusional audience as Fox News and Breitbart News.
While Republicans continue to look the other way when it comes to Trump’s behavior, one man has decided to call out these politicians and leaders for not speaking out, and that is former FBI Director James Comey. Comey has been a topic of political interest since 2016, and continues to remain an important figure going into 2018.
With his own Twitter account, Comey shamed officials for not standing up to Trump by defending “an independent Department of Justice and FBI” before ending with a quote by Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. about responsibility:
Where are the voices of all the leaders who know an independent Department of Justice and FBI are essential to our liberty? “You are not only responsible for what you say, but also for what you do not say.” — Martin Luther

While we await Trump’s inevitable retort to Comey’s correct Tweet, here are a few responses from the Twitter community that have expressed support for him:
The Dems are speaking out. The Rs – not so much Their silence is deafening.

They’re not silent; they’re actively working to dismantle the pursuit of justice.

More like destroying LAW and order.

They are all being cowards, hiding behind their party as a reason for not standing up to their own President.

And the GOP. They’re almost worse than Trump for allowing this to go on, and even attempting to obstruct.
