Trump shill Lewandowski falls flat trying to blame Russia scandal on ‘the Clinton Administration’

Former Trump Campaign Manager Corey Lewandowski Doesn’t Seem To Know Who’s President

To say that former Donald Trump campaign manager Corey Lewandowski has been a controversial figure would be an understatement. Whether it was while he was running the campaign or after his being forced out, he’s made some unflattering headlines. Today is no exception, and it’s for a stunning reason: he seemingly forgot who is running the country.

In an interview with Fox & Friends this morning, Lewandowski was in damage control after it was announced Robert Mueller is reportedly ready with at least one indictment in the investigation of Russian interference in the 2016 election. The Republican fell back on the long-debunked GOP talking point that Democrat Hillary Clinton needs to be investigated. But his wording was rather curious, to say the least. He stated:

Look, the speculation is so insane right now. What we should be focusing on are the continued lies of the Clinton administration, the continued fallacies that they perpetuate.

Lewandowski went on to assure viewers that there was no wrongdoing on the part of the campaign he once ran.

My guess is these charges have nothing to do with the campaign whatsoever because I was there. There was no collusion, cooperation or coordination with Russia.

Corey Lewandowski’s replacement, Paul Manafort, is reportedly expected to be indicted at some point by Mueller.

Some have pointed to a meeting at Trump Tower last year as a likely point for investigation, as well. Donald Trump Jr. released emails leading up to the meeting after it was revealed they were obtained by the media and would be published anyway. In those emails, he was offered information on Hillary Clinton that came through the “Crown prosecutor of Russia” and was “part of Russia and its government’s support for Mr. Trump”.

It was recently revealed the Russian lawyer Trump’s son met with, Natalia Veselnitskaya, shared information presented in the meeting with the Kremlin prior to the discussion with the members of the Republican campaign.

It would seem, despite being the former campaign manager for Donald Trump, Corey Lewandowski needed a reminder of who is actually in the White House right now. And Twitter was eager to help.

It’s clear Lewandowski, like so many other Republicans this week, is trying to turn the Russia story into something it’s not. And some believe they seem to be doing it to potentially open the door for Donald Trump to fire Robert Mueller. Only time will tell.

But maybe Corey Lewandowski can now get one fact correct. The guy he worked to elect is actually president and doing a terrible job. And it’s very likely some people around him are about to get a knock on the door from the Special Counsel in the Russia investigation.
