Report: National Security Adviser Called Trump ‘Idiot’, ‘Kindergartner’

National Security Adviser H.R. McMaster Reportedly Threw Serious Shade At His Boss Donald Trump

Since he replaced the disgraced Michael Flynn as National Security Adviser, H.R. McMaster has often been referred to as one of the “adults” in the Republican Donald Trump administration. Joining him in that distinction is Secretary of State Rex Tillerson, who was once reported to have called the president a “moron”. And a new report now suggests McMaster has joined his fellow adult in trashing Trump, and did some name-calling of his own a few months ago.

Buzzfeed News reports McMaster slammed Trump during a July dinner with Oracle CEO Safra Catz. Five sources told the outlet McMaster did not hold back in ripping the president.

McMaster bluntly trashed his boss, said the sources, four of whom told BuzzFeed News they heard about the exchange directly from Catz. The top national security official dismissed the president variously as an “idiot” and a “dope” with the intelligence of a “kindergartner,” the sources said.

A sixth source who was not familiar with the details of the dinner told BuzzFeed News that McMaster had made similarly derogatory comments about Trump’s intelligence to him in private, including that the president lacked the necessary brainpower to understand the matters before the National Security Council.

Catz has been mentioned as a potential candidate for many administration jobs, according to Buzzfeed. The administration and Oracle both denied the alleged comments were spoken by the current National Security Adviser.

McMaster has been reportedly butting heads with the “nationalist faction” of the Donald Trump administration since he took his job in February. Some of his opposing views were present from early on and it led to a feud with former strategist Steve Bannon. The latter was eventually ousted but not before his publication, Breitbart, went on the offense against McMaster.

Coincidentally, McMaster’s reported comments took place the same month Tillerson is alleged to have called the president a “moron” after a meeting on national security. Tillerson heavily dodged whether the accusations were true.

The now-surfacing comments come on the heels of multiple public hammerings of Donald Trump by Republicans tired of his act. Senators Bob Corker and Jeff Flake took highly-publicized verbal shots at the president recently. Trump wasted no time firing back at his fellow Republicans, despite the party needing near unanimity in the Senate to pass any of the administration’s unpopular agenda such as tax cuts for the wealthy.
