Transgender SEAL Team 6 Hero Challenges Trump: ‘Tell Me I’m Not Worthy’ to My Face
Retired SEAL Team 6 Member Kristin Beck Wants An Explanation From Donald Trump
Republican President Donald Trump decided to make a monumental shift in policy this morning via the government’s legislative body known as Twitter. The conservative announced the military would no longer allow transgender people to serve in the military in any way. Unsurprisingly, Trump’s decision to drag the country backward on LGBTQ rights prompted quick backlash from many. But one of the most prominent responses came from a former member of the Navy’s elite SEAL Team 6, Kristin Beck.
In comments to Business Insider, Beck did not hold back her disgust with the sudden move.
“Let’s meet face to face and you tell me I’m not worthy,” Kristin Beck, a 20-year veteran of the Navy SEALs, told Business Insider on Wednesday. “Transgender doesn’t matter. Do your service…I was defending individual liberty,” she said. “I defended for Republicans. I defended for Democrats. I defended for everyone.”
Business Insider notes Beck was deployed more than a dozen times during her two decades of decorated service.
After consultation with my Generals and military experts, please be advised that the United States Government will not accept or allow Transgender individuals to serve in any capacity in the U.S. Military. Our military must be focused on decisive and overwhelming victory and cannot be burdened with the tremendous medical costs and disruption that transgender in the military would entail. Thank you
One RAND study estimated the cost of gender transition to be between $2.4 million and $8.4 million. The United States’ military budget is expected to be more than $600 billion in the upcoming fiscal year. Considering these facts, the logic behind the explanation Donald Trump has given doesn’t even begin to pass the smell test.
This reality is not lost on a veteran like Kristin Beck either. She also stated:
But “the money is negligible,” Beck said. “You’re talking about .000001% of the military budget.
“They care more about the airplane or the tank than they care about people,” Beck said. “They don’t care about people. They don’t care about human beings.”
Army whistleblower Chelsea Manning also responded to the change noting the ridiculous explanation. She stated in a Tweet:
so, biggest baddest most $$ military on earth cries about a few trans people but funds the F-35? sounds like cowardice

The move to allow transgender troops to serve openly happened a year ago during the Barack Obama administration and has been supported by many retired generals.
Considering the Vietnam-era history of Donald Trump when it comes to facing a challenge regarding the military, it’s unlikely he’ll accept the offer of retired Navy SEAL Kristin Beck. But he should. Listening to Beck is the least Trump could do after making such a terrible change based on nothing more than absurd logic.
