Trump Tells Grieving Dad He’s Made Lots Of ‘Sacrifices’; Promptly Gets Destroyed By Twitter (VIDEO, TWEETS)
When a grieving father who lost his son in the Iraq war reminded Donald Trump that he’d “sacrificed nothing” for his country, of course Trump just had to do it in his usual fashion of being offensive and clueless all at the same time.
LET’S HEAR ABOUT THE DONALD’S SACRIFICES
He responded to Khizr Khan by saying he had sacrificed by employing “thousands and thousands of people.” Then he decided to psychoanalyze Khan’s wife, claiming that she didn’t speak because she was forbidden to as a Muslim. Then he even went so far as to question whether Khan’s words were his own.
“Who wrote that? Did Hillary’s script writers write it?” Trump asked in an interview with George Stephanopoulos. “I think I’ve made a lot of sacrifices. I work very, very hard.”
Khan spoke on Thursday, the last night of the Democratic National Convention. The Gold Star father, with his wife Ghazala by his side, told the crowd how his son died in a car bomb attack in Iraq in 2004.
Khan also lit into Trump for trying to ban Muslims from entering the U.S. His son, U.S. Capt. Humayun Khan, he noted, wouldn’t have been able to serve if Trump were president.
“Go look at the graves of brave patriots who died defending the United States of America,” Khan said, addressing Trump. “You will see all faiths, genders and ethnicities. You have sacrificed nothing and no one.”
It seemed as if Trump was trying to brush Khan’s speech aside, saying that he “was, you know, very emotional and probably looked like a nice guy to me.”
Then he turned the issue to Khan’s wife, saying “If you look at his wife, she was standing there. She had nothing to say. She probably, maybe she wasn’t allowed to have anything to say. You tell me.”
So Stephanopoulos decided to press the billionaire real estate magnate to see what “sacrifices” he’s made.
“I think I’ve made a lot of sacrifices. I work very, very hard. I’ve created thousands and thousands of jobs, tens of thousands of jobs, built great structures. I’ve had tremendous success. I think I’ve done a lot.”
And of course, Twitter users couldn’t resist the urge to pat The Donald on the back for his #TrumpSacrifices.
