Trump’s Latest Twitter Meltdown Turns Misogynist and Nasty

Less than four days on from the inaugural presidential debate of this election cycle  and Donald Trump has doubled down in his attempt to publicly humiliate former Miss Universe winner, Alicia Machado. In a twitter meltdown that commenced at 3.20 AM Friday morning, the GOP presidential nominee made a number of personal and highly insulting accusations regarding the character of Ms. Machado, including urging his followers to check out an alleged sex tape made by the Venezuelan. Over the course of three hours, Trump took to twitter four times to, initially critique the nature of anonymous campaign “sources” but then subsequently became a tirade with a specifically personal and vindictive attack on Ms. Machado as well as the judgement of Democratic nominee, Hillary Clinton. Trump’s latest twitter meltdown began with:

Wow, Crooked Hillary was duped and used by my worst Miss U. Hillary floated her as an “angel” without checking her past, which is terrible!

Trump continued his attack on  both Clinton and Ms. Machado – who has recently become a US citizen – by claiming that Secretary Clinton was crooked and Ms. Machado was a con:

Using Alicia M in the debate as a paragon of virtue just shows that Crooked Hillary suffers from BAD JUDGEMENT! Hillary was set up by a con.

The Republican Party nominee for President concluded his meltdown on twitter on a particularly low note, questioning, and in truth, implying, that Secretary Clinton may have played a role in assisting Ms. Machado become a US citizen so as to hurt him politically in this crucial period of the election cycle:

Did Crooked Hillary help disgusting (check out sex tape and past) Alicia M become a U.S. citizen so she could use her in the debate?

When greeted with a series of tweets this degrading, insulting and, frankly, bizarre, it becomes unfathomable to imagine how this man has become the presidential nominee of a major political party. And while we could criticize the manner of the tweets sent between 3 and 5 AM, or the fact that the language used is completely out of step with any other presidential candidate that has come before, it is undoubtedly the misogynist and anti-women tone that he employs that is most concerning. Words like crooked to describe a political opponent is bad enough but to refer to a woman who he has previously insulted as disgusting and a con, and to question the the motivation behind her becoming a US citizen is simply unacceptable.

To put this in perspective, if this is how he reacts following a taunt during a presidential debate, how will he behave in the situation room during a time of national or international danger or at a UN summit when world leaders will be watching his every move, acutely aware of the volatility that he possesses.

If this latest twitter meltdown doesn’t confirm that the GOP nominee simply isn’t fit to be President of the United States, then I simply do not what will.
