USA Today Absolutely Destroys Donald Trump in Scathing Op-Ed

Donald Trump’s Sexist Tweet About Senator Gillibrand Was The Final Straw For USA Today as the paper realizes he’s no Obama — or Bush.

If you’ve ever found yourself killing time in an airport, or hotel room, a college lounge or even a McDonald’s, odds are you’ve perused through the bland-but-informative pages of USA Today. Once referred to as “McPaper” for its one-size-fits-the-entire-country style of reporting, the publication has spent its thirty-five-year history known more for late sports box scores, stock market reports, and straight news than groundbreaking investigations or politically charged opinions. But then came Donald Trump.

In a blistering opinion piece published in the Wednesday morning edition, the paper’s editorial board asks the same question that millions of other Americans have been pondering for some time now: Will Trump’s lows ever hit rock bottom?

The breaking point for the board appears to have been Trump’s callous, sexist insult directed at Senator Kirsten Gillibrand (D-NY) Monday morning:

With his latest tweet, clearly implying that a United States senator would trade sexual favors for campaign cash, President Trump has shown he is not fit for office. Rock bottom is no impediment for a president who can always find room for a new low.

“Not Fit” – Obama and Even George W. Bush Tower Over Trump

The fiercest shot hurled at the president hits him where it hurts: juxtaposing him against his predecessors. In doing so, the board says:

A president who would all but call Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand a whore is not fit to clean the toilets in the Barack Obama Presidential Library or to shine the shoes of George W. Bush.

They then go on to barely scratch the surface of his transgressions, many of which would have likely cost the forty-three men before him to lose their jobs, including:

Under normal circumstances, such harsh words from a largely subjective newspaper would send reverberations across the media landscape. But these are nor normal times or circumstances. A pro-choice Democrat was just elected to be an Alabama Senator. Our European allies can no longer count on us on the world stage. The president of the United States considers “some” Nazis to be “good people”.

And the “McPaper” can no longer stay silent.
