Bill O’Reilly On Black Lives Matter: ‘It’s Like The Ku Klux Klan, Alright?’

Did Fox’s Bill O’Reilly just compare Black Lives Matter to the KKK? Yes, I’m afraid he did.

Whoa, wait a minute: What the heck did I just see? Did Bill O’Reilly from Fox “News” just call Black Lives Matter a “hate group” and compare them to the Ku Klux Klan? Yes, I’m afraid he just did. And what evidence does O’Reilly have to justify this outrageous claim? A fake video that a Fox “News” affiliate in Baltimore used during the Freddie Gray protests so white people can smear Black Lives Matter activists and invite other white people to blame black people for the poverty, terror and police brutality we visit on their communities.

In December 2014, Chris Thompson from Gawker reported on how WBFF used their fake video to make the Black Lives Matter movement look bad.:

Last night, Baltimore’s WBFF aired a video of protesters chanting “kill a cop”– evidence, it claimed, of murderously violent rhetoric on the part of anti-brutality protesters in Washington, D.C. The only problem? The protesters weren’t chanting “kill a cop” at all, and there’s video evidence to prove it.

Instead of howling: “We can’t stop! We won’t stop! So kill a cop,” the protesters were chanting: “We can’t stop! We won’t stop! ‘Til Killer cops are in cell blocks!” But who cares about the truth when you’ve got a bunch of old, white racists in your audience who are salivating for their daily dose of anger porn?

The week before Media Matters called out Fox & Friends for taking video footage of New York City protesters shouting “What do we want? Dead cops! When do we want it? Now!” and running it alongside footage from a rally led by Al Sharpton. Which, of course, made it look like the prominent civil rights leader and prominent MSNBC host was calling on the black community to start killing police officers.

It’s bad enough that Fox News presents and spins the news to support their racist, right-wing agenda. Once Ronald Reagan de-clawed the FCC and revoked the Fairness Doctrine, that paved the way for Fox’s one-sided “news” coverage. Now, they’re just making thing up. And what choice do they have? As Black Lives Matter activists present America with endless cell phone videos starring cops using excessive force against people of color, there’s no other way to justify the status quo.

And now, Media Matters just caught Fox News doing it again with more doctored video footage that superimposes chants from fringe protest groups onto the larger Black Lives Matter protests. In Bill O’Reilly’s panel discussion with Monica Crowley and Eboni K. Williams, O’Reilly flat out calls Black Lives Matter a “hate group” and demands that they “repudiate” and apologize for stuff they never said in the first place. he then has the nerve to compare them to the Ku Klux Klan, an actual white terrorist hate group.

CRO If the movement doesn’t repudiate, it’s like the Ku Klux Klan, alright? You know, are all Klansman going to hang blacks? No. But they’re all in the same soup bowl, alright? Because they don’t divorce themselves from the group who did do those things.
