GOP Lawmaker Called Civil Rights Hero John Lewis A ‘Racist Pig’ And Immediately Got DESTROYED
Republicans just can seem to get over the fact that beloved civil rights leader Rep. John Lewis (D-GA.) dared to question President-elect Donald Trump’s legitimacy. And unbelievably, one has even gone as far as to call him a racist pig, Raw Story reports.
John Lewis is a civil rights icon
Yes, really. Tommy Hunter, a Republican who sits on the Gwinnett, Georgia, County Board of Commissioners went so far as to call Lewis a “racist pig” on his Facebook page this past weekend and had the temerity to question Lewis’ own legitimacy, reports the Atlanta Journal -Constitution.
“John Lewis’ district is drawn to keep him in power,” Hunter opined. “His wins are all illegitimate. How can other reps be concerned about working with him.”
He also wrote other such “witty” remarks on his FB page:
“There ain’t one political pundit that didn’t say on November 9 that this would be Demonrats EXACT response to Trump winning. Like I heard Rush, I believe, say Demonrats do not live in reality. They believe the polls were right and THE REAL VOTES WERE WRONG. What a bunch of idiots.”
Fortunately he has since deleted these posts, and John Lewis has plenty of fans who promptly put Hunter in his place, with feisty comments about the importance of this man, who is a civil rights leader.
Here’s a couple of supporters telling Hunter a few truths.
“The comments you made about John Lewis are reprehensible,” wrote one commenter. “How in the hell people in Gwinnett county could vote for a scumbag like you I don’t know. You should immediately apologize to John Lewis.”
“It is because of lacking basic, decent respect like you that we are now facing the oncoming sh*tstorm of Trump,” another person wrote. “If you don’t resign, you’ll be driven from office at the next election. We do not need people in office who disrespect true heroes. You will pay for this.
He narrowly won reelection in 2016, and his racist comments certainly aren’t going to help his cause. The areas he represents—”covers a wide and diverse swath of southern and eastern Gwinnett, including parts of Snellville, Loganville, Grayson and Dacula,” the Journal-Constitution reports.
Undoubtedly, many of these voters will remember his insults.

Gabe Okoye, Gwinnett County Democratic Party Chairman is calling for Hunter to resign.
“Hunter is a disgrace to Gwinnett County in particular, and Georgia in general,” he told the newspaper, “and he should apologize for those comments.”
Hunter was first elected to the Board of Commissioners in 2012.
