Comey Did Not Acknowledge Russian Influence On U.S. Elections When He Dropped ‘Hillarybomb’
Comey Opted Out Of signing Russia Statement citing election
FBI Director James Comey declined to sign a document naming the Russians responsible for recent cyberattacks on U.S. political insitutions, saying it was too close to election day for the U.S. to name Russia, and that doing so would meddle in U.S. elections. He thus purposely left the FBI off the document the U.S. government put out on Oct 7. The statement came from the Department of Homeland Security and the Office of the Director of National Intelligence. Former bureau official told CNBC:
“A foreign power was trying to undermine the election. He believed it to be true, but was against putting it out before the election.” Comey’s position, this official said, was “if it is said, it shouldn’t come from the FBI, which as you’ll recall it did not.”
The unnamed official goes on to state he is perplexed as to why Comey would have reservations about the Russia revelations, yet not apply that same principle to the possible new email evidence in the Clinton case. It is indeed disturbing to think about when it’s very clear that the letter Comey sent to congressional Republicans had a political impact and seems to have the taint of partisanship all over it. Exactly like the FBI isn’t supposed to. Exactly like the logic he seems to have applied to the Russia statement he refused to sign off on. To say that this looks a GIANT double standard, is an giant understatement.
The logic here is confusing at best. It was as late as Oct 7, Mr. Comey stated he refused to even sign off on something that could seem political in nature, yet he didn’t believe that his letter regarding possible evidence in the Clinton Email case would be considered political? It seems either mindnumbingly incompetent, or just plain dirty.
When the Comey letter was first released Hillary Clinton very quickly issued a firm but blistering rebuke:
“I’m sure a lot of you may be asking what this new email story is about and why in the world the FBI would decide to jump into an election with no evidence of any wrongdoing with just days to go. That’s a good question,” Clinton said. “I am sure they will reach the same conclusion they did when they looked at my emails for the last year. There is no case here.”

Senator Harry Reid called comey out
It seems in the days to come, and indeed even after this election, Mr Comey is going to have a lot of questions that need to be answered. Harry Reid Senate Minority Leader, penned a fiery rebuke to Mr Comey, and it seems that he has questions as well about the director’s refusal to release information on it’s Russian investigation, and Senator Reid adds the possibility of ties to Trump staffers, or even Trump himself.
In my communications with you and other top officials in the national security community, it has become clear that you possess explosive information about close ties and coordination between Donald Trump, his top advisors, and the Russian government – a foreign interest openly hostile to the United States, which Trump praises at every opportunity. The public has a right to know this information. I wrote to you months ago calling for this information to be released to the public. There is no danger to American interests from releasing it. And yet, you continue to resist calls to inform the public of this critical information.
By contrast, as soon as you came into possession of the slightest innuendo related to Secretary Clinton, you rushed to publicize it in the most negative light possible.
This indeed raises questions, that it seems will linger on well past election day. One cannot deny that this seems, like a huge double standard on the part of Mr Comey. To put it bluntly, it’s partisan bullshit! CNBC filed the following
