Ivanka Trump Booed, Hissed for Defending Dad at Women’s Conference
Trying to Defend Donald Trump’s Record on Women at a Women’s Conference Wasn’t an Easy Sell for Ivanka
Ivanka Trump attended her first international event as the “First Daughter of the United States” and it didn’t go very smoothly to say the least.
As BBC reports, Ivanka took the stage for a panel discussion on women entrepreneurs at the G20 women’s summit in Berlin, Germany, Somehow, she ended up sharing the platform with powerful women like German Chancellor Angela Merkel and the head of the IMF, Christine Lagarde.
This was probably not the best environment for Ivanka Trump to try and sell her dad as a champion of women’s rights and say how wonderful he is for families, but that didn’t stop tone-deaf Ivanka for giving it a shot. She praised Donald Trump for supporting increased paid time off for new mothers and said that he was a “tremendous champion of supporting families”. She also claimed that he was a great employer to thousands of women and that this was somehow a testament to how great he is on women’s issues.

As The Hill reports, these statements were met with audible boos and hisses, and for good reason. Clearly the women in the audience haven’t forgotten the infamous video where Donald Trump bragged about sexually assaulting women. For anyone to argue that Trump is a great guy when it comes to women hasn’t been paying attention to what the man has been up to both in public and in private.
The fact that Ivanka Trump was even at the summit at all has some people rather confused, like Inga Meyer, a 49-year old German creative director who was approached by CNBC News.
“I think it’s outrageous. Why does she have the power and the position to meet Angela Merkel? It’s not clear exactly what her position is.”
The sentiment was echoed by many on social media who are having trouble grasping what Ivanka is even doing in the White House altogether in her undefined and clearly made-up position of “First Daughter of the United States.”

As long as Ivanka Trump keeps trying to promote her dad as something he is not, she is probably in for more rough rides like this everywhere she goes.
