Homophobic Cruz-Endorser Pastor Calls For Execution Of…Girl Scout Leaders
Donald Trump’s attempts to turn back the clock in Chicago to 1968 may be sucking all of the oxygen out of the race for the Republican Presidential Nomination, but the dubious Ted Cruz supporters continue to see Donald’s lunacy and raise him some batshit. Cruz has already trumpeted the backing of extreme right wing ideologues who compare homosexuality to bestiality, now a pastor who has appeared at his rallies is openly calling for the execution of Girl Scout leaders.
“Pastor” Kevin Swanson has previously accused the Girl Scouts of America of turning young girls into lesbians and promoting communism. He’s kicking his rhetoric up a notch now, however, and he’s got his bookmark on Luke 17:2 to justify his proposed punishment for these offenses. According to Right Wing Watch:
(Swanson) said that Girl Scouts leaders have violated Jesus’ teaching that it would be better for someone to have a millstone hung around their neck and thrown into the sea rather than cause a child to sin.
Erasing any doubt that he was shooting for the literal translation of scripture, he added:
You’ve got to take what He says and you have to apply it.
Homosexuals Worthy Of Death….Ladies & Gentlemen: TED CRUZ!!!!
This likely isn’t the first time you’re reading about Kevin Swanson and his criminal suggestions, and as long as Ted Cruz thinks he has a chance to be President, it probably won’t be the last. Despite the littany of anti-LGBT rhetoric coming drom the mouths of his vocal backers, Rafael Edward Cruz would rather point fingers than keep his own house in order. The Texan has jumped at the opportunity to assign the blame for the increasingly hostile environment that blankets the Trump campaign on the front-runner himself, telling reporters outside of Chicago that Trump:
…bears responsibility for creating an environment when the candidate urges supporters to engage in physical violence to punch people in the face.
But as was reported last November, moments before introducing Cruz to the National Religious Liberties Conference, Swanson issued his twisted brand of Christianity’s version of a fatwa against homosexuality, telling the audience:
“YES! Romans Chapter 1, Verse 32 […] that homosexuals are worthy of death. HIS WORDS, NOT MINE!!!! And I am not ashamed of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.”
What was that about urging supporters to engage in physical violence, Ted?
You can’t have your Thin Mints and eat them too.
