Will This Kid’s Viral Freak Out Over How We’ve F*cked Up The Planet Be The Thing That Saves It?
This Young Child Understands The Severity Of Climate Change Better than Any Republican Does
Discussing climate change with most conservatives can be a pretty infuriating endeavor. Their act of face-rolling their keyboard until a bunch of made-up gibberish comes out definitely gets most of us fairly bummed out; knowing that these people probably have children leaves you wondering if this planet has any sort of future with humans on it.
Enter Henry, a young child whose Mom took a video of him reacting to the dangers of pollution and the ever-growing threats posed by climate change. If you’re an adult with a triple-digit IQ, chances are you understand just how severe these woes really are, and Henry? He sums up just how upset we all feel when faced with the prospect of nothing ever really getting done. And in the process, he gives us hope that his generation is going to roll up their sleeves and do something about it, too.
Henry, while fighting back tears, explains just how awful littering, deforestation, and pollution really are, in ways only a child’s simple honesty really can:
“The environment is gonna be wrecked. People are just being rude to it. They throw trash on the ground, they cut down trees, they make forests into places, into roads. They need to think about what they are doing and what they are doing to the planet.”
The part of the video that will really give you hope that Henry’s generation will solve the things our own generation and generations past have ruined comes when Henry tells his Mom what he really wishes for:
“I wish I was an adult right now […] I just want to do my job, right now.”
The video is adorable, but takes a saddening turn when we see Henry come to the realization, right on camera, that littering and pollution are absolutely terrible for local wildlife:
“Oh my gosh, baby animals, oh my gosh! They eat the garbage! And I hate those people who make them do that!”
Don’t worry, little guy. You aren’t alone. Hopefully more grown-ups will watch your video and feel inspired to do something. It’s pretty sad that a child as young as Henry knows more about pollution and climate change than pretty much any republican does, but you know what, folks? It’s about as inspirational as inspirational gets, too.
Watch, and be inspired!
