Trump Applies To Build Wall. No, It’s Not What You Think And It Screams Hypocrisy

application states Donald trump business is planning for climate change

We are all well aware of the ridiculous wall Donald Trump is promising to build on the U.S.-Mexico border. We know it’s dangerous and we know it is going to cost a ton more than Trump is suggesting. So, we know his public ideas in regards to building walls are terrible. He has, however, applied to build a wall privately. No, it’s not the one he’s going to build really, really high to keep out immigrants. It’s a wall he wants to build to save a golf course from something he has stated is a total hoax: climate change.

Politico obtained a permit application filed by Trump International Golf Links Ireland to build a wall in order to protect the golf course from erosion and rising sea levels. Even more surprising, the company is predicting a more dire outcome than the Irish government when it comes to the effects of climate change, as noted in the article:

The statement acknowledges one Irish government study that assumes a steady rate of erosion through 2050, but argues that the study fails to account for the effects of climate change: “If the predictions of an increase in sea level rise as a result of global warming prove correct, however, it is likely that there will be a corresponding increase in coastal erosion rates not just in Doughmore Bay but around much of the coastline of Ireland. In our view, it could reasonably be expected that the rate of sea level rise might become twice of that presently occurring. … As a result, we would expect the rate of dune recession to increase.”…

Later, the statement argues that rising sea levels make taking action unavoidable. “A Do nothing/Do minimum option will have the least impact on [natural] processes but the existing erosion rate will continue and worsen, due to sea level rise, in the next coming years, posing a real and immediate risk to most of the golf course frontage and assets.”

In other words, Donald Trump is denying the impact of climate change to his supporters in order to win GOP voters, but is fully recognizing the oncoming changes with his wallet.

Trump has even tried to suggest we should be seeing a period of “global cooling” coming real soon, ignoring the fact that we have now seen 12 consecutive record breaking months for high global temperatures. I suppose he could be banking on the idea that what goes up must eventually come down, even if that means colossal catastrophe in between.

It looks like we will be adding this to the many, many flip-flops of Donald Trump on numerous issues. No matter how much he wants to try to feed the trolls on climate change, he is showing everyone he does acknowledge it’s real, it’s a problem, and we should be doing everything we can to stop it.
