VP, EPA Head Celebrate Abandoning Climate Deal on Science Denying Conspiracy Nut’s Radio Show
Rabid climate change denier Michael Savage is gloating over President Trump’s decision to pull the U.S. out of the Paris Climate Agreement. And who better to celebrate with than Vice President Mike Pence and Scott Pruitt, head of the Environmental Protection Agency? It’s a win-win for Pence and Pruitt because they are doing whatever they can to deflect from Trump’s horrifically bad decision, Media Matters for America (MMFA) reports.
Pence and Pruitt reject man-made climate change because they are fools
Savage is a vicious “shock jock” who has used his radio show to attack people with autism, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and depression. He has also advocated for killing “100 million” Muslims.
What a guy.
And what a perfect opportunity for Savage, Pence and Pruitt to shmooze it up over their common love of climate change denial. Pence appeared on Savage’s radio program The Savage Nation, Friday. He’s also appeared on Savage’s program before: In March, Savage beseeched him to limit immigration before the U.S. turns “into a one-party state” like California. Pence told Savage that he knows how much Trump “appreciates and respects, and admires you and your voice in the national debate.”
Pruitt appeared on Savage’s show on June 1, and both were ecstatic over Trump’s plan to withdraw the U.S. from the accord. Savage couldn’t resist falsely claiming that “much of the science today that’s being quoted” regarding climate change is “fake science.” And Pruitt was more than happy to agree with that incorrect sentiment. He also asserted that the “American people deserve truth,” and suggested there should be a debate about climate change science. At the end of the interview, the controversial conspiracy theorist thanked Pruitt for pushing the debate “in the right direction.”
But the thing is, if you’re talking about man-made climate change, there is no debate. NASA reports that multiple studies in peer-reviewed journals show that at least 97 percent of actively publishing climate scientists agree:
“Climate-warming trends over the past century are extremely likely due to human activities. In addition, most of the leading scientific organizations worldwide have issued public statements endorsing this position.”
NASA also provided a lengthy list of the organizations that have issued public statements endorsing this position.
So how much evidence do these climate change-denying idiots need? These are the world’s leading scientific organizations and each one is telling these fools that now is not the time to hesitate to act.
And here’s the thing about Michael Savage: He is a major, Grade A conspiracy theorist. He’s also as bigoted as they come.
He’s used his program as a platform to attack people with autism, calling it a “fraud” and a “racket.” He’s called PTSD sufferers and depressed people “losers,” and told his listeners to avoid flu shots because you can’t trust the government. He’s stupidly theorized that liberals have been driven insane thanks to seltzer bubbles. Perhaps most odiously, he’s claimed that the “asthma epidemic amongst minority children” is really a “money racket” because “the children got welfare if they were disabled.”
Some of his claims are more ridiculous than that, and he really seems to hate former President Obama.
Savage has promoted the insane theory that the former president “”wants to infect the nation with Ebola” and that Obama was orchestrating the government “to fight a war against white people.” During the last year of Obama’s presidency, Savage accused him of engaging in “genocide” against the white race.
What a reprehensible creep.
Despite all this, he somehow managed to work as a talk show host for MSNBC for a while, until he was fired for telling a caller who criticized him to “get AIDS and die,” Mother Jones reports.
But here’s where things get scary: Donald Trump actually thinks Savage would do great as head of the National Institutes of Health.
Trump and Savage had a mutual back-patting fest on his show last October. As their lovefest wound down, Savage made a request:
“When you become president, I want you to consider appointing me to head of the NIH. I will make sure that America has real science and real medicine again in this country because I know the corruption,” he said. “I know how to clean it up and I know how to make real research work again.”
To which Trump said “Aaaaaaaahhhhh!!!!!” Okay not really, but we can always hope. Instead, he had this predictable nonsense to say:
“I think that’s great. Well you know you’d get common sense if that was the case, that I can tell you, because I hear so much about the NIH, and it’s terrible.”
I try not to think of people as horrible or nasty. Most of us aren’t, but this guy sure fills that description. What’s disturbing about this is that Pence, Trump and Pruitt think he should be an authority on anything — especially climate change.
