Damning Donald Trump Dossier Re-Opened By Senate

Donald Trump faces further scrutiny as it is reported the Senate is calling for the author of the explosive ‘Golden Shower’ dossier to testify.

According to the Independent, Christopher Steele, the former MI6 spy behind the report, has been asked to testify before the US Senate Intelligence Committee, to aid in the investigation into Trump’s alleged ties to Russia. Steele has made it clear that he is not likely to travel to the United States; however, Democrats, as well as some Republicans, are willing to meet initially in the UK, or “other neutral territory.” Steele has been in hiding since the publication of the dossier, which was reportedly given to both then-President Obama and then-President Elect Trump.

The dossier was explosive on many fronts, and many levels. It made disturbing allegations that Russian operatives have collected damaging material on the current President, which could be used to blackmail him. Among that damaging material was an account detailing the now-infamous “Golden Shower Gate.” It alleged that Trump paid Russian prostitutes to urinate on a bed that had previously been used by former President Barack Obama and his wife, Michelle.

The allegations put forth by the dossier were dismissed by both Trump and Vladimir Putin, but neither may be viewed as credible sources of verifying the veracity of the report. Trump then attacked Steele, calling him a “fake spy,” and again turned his fury to the media for reporting the story. And now, despite his repeated denials, and the fact that the damaging dossier eventually became buried under the avalanche of misfires and humiliations plaguing this White House, it seems poised to make headlines once again.

That this dossier may be re-opened to investigation by the Senate is yet another massive blow to a White House already struggling under the weight of the massive Russian scandal.

Just The Latest In The Trump / Russia Connections

On Thursday, Attorney General Jeff Sessions, had to recuse himself from all investigations into the Trump campaign amid stunning revelations that he had been in contact with Moscow’s ambassador during the campaign. He then lied about that contact during his confirmation hearing.

And that came after Trump’s national security adviser, Michael Flynn, was forced to resign from his position after it came to light that he had been in contact with Russia repeatedly, as well.

In fact, recent reports show that officials are so concerned over the obvious and ever-deepening connection between Trump and Russia that the last days of Barack Obama’s presidency were spent passing along as much information to intelligence agencies and senior figures in Congress as possible, to guard against the incoming administration destroying incriminating material.

And even those most recent revelations are simply the newest in a long string of revelations that lead back to the president and Russia.

And at some point, the question will no longer be what sort of connections the Trump campaign, and then the Trump administration, have to Russia.

Instead, the question will finally become, “What did the President know…and when did he know it?”
