Preet Bharara Has A Clever Idea How Amazon’s Bezos Could Shut Trump Up With His Pocket Change
Bharara is back in the spotlight with a new anti-Trump idea
During the Obama years, New York Attorney Preet Bharara was one of the nation’s strongest prosecutors against Wall Street corruption, gaining fame for successfully charging close to 100 executives for various financial crimes. Because of his strong record of prosecuting corruption, it should come as no surprise that Donald Trump, through Jeff Sessions, had him fired in March 2017.
But that backfired. Because, freed from the shackles of professional restraint, Bharara became a powerful voice decrying the corruption and abuses of the Trump Administration. Over a year later, Bharara hasn’t stopped pushing against Trump’s conduct in office. Most recently, Bharara has focused in on Trump’s behavior on Twitter, and he’s got a great idea for bringing that national embarrassment to an end.
To give some backstory, Trump has been personally attacking Amazon and its founder Jeff Bezos since he began running for President in 2015, a transparent attempt to undermine the Washington Post, which Bezos owns. The Washington Post. His latest was a Twitter rant in late March/early April where he made the inaccurate claim that the U.S. Postal Service will lose money in their shipping deal with Amazon. The result was an actual market drop for the corporation of around $53 billion.
As MarketWatch’s Jeffrey Bartash pointed out, past Presidents like Theodore Roosevelt and JFK have gone after corporations and trusts, but wisely chose to avoid denouncing any particular individual or company head because they knew it would have a potentially significant effect on the stock market. And, of course, they weren’t doing it because the company owned a newspaper that was exposing wrong doings, or even potential treason, the way Trump is.
Because of this tension, Bharara argued that, as a way of getting back at him, Bezos should purchase Twitter and terminate Trump’s Twitter account. Of course, Trump he has notoriously used to Twitter to launch diatribe after diatribe, to unilaterally announce government policy, and even to fire members of his cabinet. And to Bharara’s credit, this would not be a form of censorship as the President has violated Twitter’s terms of service multiple times.
What if Jeff Bezos bought Twitter with the change in his pocket and shut Trump’s account?

Not only that, but there is the notion that Bezos could act on the Russian-bot problem that plagues Twitter, which would undermine the President’s support, and deal a serious blow to the propaganda machine that is propping Trump up. Bezos could even just block Russian accounts from the platform entirely, or spin off a Russian version of the company. After all, Russia weaponized the product of an American company to, to undermine America’s democracy. Of course, those are steps Twitter could take right now.
Or, Bezos could just blast Trump into space with a rocket, which he has offered to do.
