Hilarious New Smirnoff Vodka Ad Pokes Fun at Trump over Russian Ties – and the Internet Loves It
Smirnoff Throws Major Shade At Trump
Even Smirnoff Vodka is poking fun at President Trump.
The vodka giant released a new ad that mocks the President’s ties to Russia, using just one line.
“Made in America, but we’d be happy to speak about our ties to Russia under oath.”

Smirnoff is one of the most popular spirits sold worldwide. Originally founded in Moscow, it is currently owned by Diageo, a British company that also owns Captain Morgan.
The ad is an obvious reference to the Trump administration’s current entanglement with Russia. The administration faces an investigation into its Russian ties that seems to broaden each day, with new connections and conversations between Trump allies and Russian operatives popping up in a seemingly constant stream.
Of course, Twitter fell in love with the shade thrown by Smirnoff, and quickly began firing off their support for the vodka giant.

In the context of testimony under oath, the ad’s depiction of a Moscow Mule may be an oblique reference to a Kremlin’s Ass.

Coincidentally, everyone’s been drinking a lot more hard liquor since Trump became president.

Love the Moscow mule in lower right corner. It is not just the drink that is ice cold.

Smirnoff Nailed It
Smirnoff’s new ad is savage. And it’s a sign of the times, as well. We have reached a point in the Trump presidency when even a company devoted to making spirits is riffing off the Donald.
And in case you are running out to buy a bottle of Smirnoff for yourself, here’s a recipe for a Moscow Mule – the drink rather cleverly featured in the ad, as well.
- Fill a highball glass or copper cup with ice cubes.
- Add Smirnoff No. 21 Vodka, lime juice, ginger beer and a dash of bitters. …
- Stir thoroughly. …
- Garnish with a wedge of lime.
