13 Anti-Trump Twitter Accounts You Must Follow if You’re in The Resistance
If Barack Obama was the first president in history to leverage it to run successful political campaigns, Donald Trump is the first to actually attempt to govern by social media. And although Facebook plays an important role, clearly Trump’s platform of choice is Twitter. Which is odd, because almost everything he tweets get instantly attacked, debunked or fact-checked by other users of the platform. And did we mention that almost half of his own followers are fake? Because, they are.
TWITTER IS GROUND ZERO FOR THE RESISTANCE
Terrified of the scrutiny provided by traditional press (as he should be, because more often than not, every time he opens his anus-shaped yap, lies pour out), Trump instead chooses to attempt to gin up public support on Twitter, his tiny thumbs typing furiously at his smart phone while sitting on the White House shitter.
If you want to be a self-respecting member of The Resistance, then — and you know you do — you need to be on Twitter, too. So grab your smart phone or tablet, choose a catchy screen name, search for users running the hashtag #FBR (Follow Back Resistance), and start building your follower count. But make sure you follow these folks, first:
1: Ted Lieu (@tedlieu)
He’s an Air Force veteran, he’s a Democratic member of Congress representing California’s 33rd District, and he is one of Trump’s worst nightmares. He tweets often, and is currently raging against treasonous Trump lackey Devin Nunes. What’s not to like?
The Democratic memo obliterates the misleading #NunesMemo and will show that the FBI didn't lie; there was overwhelming probable cause to issue warrants on Carter Page; and the Department of Justice made appropriate disclosures to the FISA judges.#ReleaseTheRealMemo https://t.co/te6BEKJ6zy

2: Scott Dworkin (@funder)
An outspoken member of the Democratic Coalition, Dworkin tweets all day, every day. A frequent contributor on MSNBC, followers of his account (there are 296 thousand of them), can actually sense the glee with which he pokes Trump in the eye. Repeatedly. Follow him, and retweet him liberally (see what I did, there?).
Retweetfest: Tweet out this link & we will RT you! Then donate if you can-it will help us get this billboard up outside of Devin Nunes’ offices!#YoMemoJokes #RemoveNunes #TheResistance #AMJoy https://t.co/jRHSqJOFcD

3: McSpocky (@mcspocky)
Boasting 182,000 followers, McSpocky relentlessly trolls Trump, tweeting memes and factoids on a daily basis. He also re-tweets our links at Reverb Press from time to time, which earns him bonus points.

4: Tea Pain (@TeaPainUSA)
Tea Pain describes himself as a “faithful foot-soldier of The Resistance,” and boy is he ever. With 304,000 followers, he’s not fucking around. He goes at Trump and his crime syndicate daily and has earned a shout-out from social media giant and fellow Trump hater George Takei.
No innocent person says, "Ask me anything, provided it's one of these 14 pre-approved yes/no questions."https://t.co/J26R5yQTdX
— Tea Pain (@TeaPainUSA) February 6, 2018
5: Caroline Orr (@RVAwonk)
Orr is an absolute Rock Star of The Resistance. A doctoral fellow in Behavioral Sciences at Virginia Commonwealth, Orr — a contributor to ShareBlue Media — was recently featured in the National Observer. Using data and analytics, she helped expose Russian involvement in the 2016 US Elections, and further expose right-wing manipulation of social media to push (often false) narratives into the viral realm. With 280,000 followers, she is a powerful ally in the war for truth.
Chuck Johnson — the alt-right Holocaust denier who helped arrange a meeting between Rep. Dana Rohrabacher & Julian Assange — is banned from Twitter for his toxicity.

6: Aunt Crabby (@DearAuntCrabby)
Aunt Crabby takes no prisoners, and is not afraid to work “blue.” Much like the inappropriate relative at the holiday dinner, she’s not afraid to say inappropriate things. Especially about an inappropriate administration. Her 134,000 followers eat it up. You will, too.
I have not played this video just because I don't want to get stupid all over me. BUT, have a look at the great brain trust behind #Trump. THIS is the best they could come up with? Really? https://t.co/pYxLXDiS8z

7: Adam Schiff (@RepAdamSchiff)
Democratic Representative from California Adam Shiff serves as Ranking Member of the House Intelligence Committee, and is a constant voice in the protection of the integrity of the Mueller probe into Russian interference with the 2016 elections. Follow him and retweet him with regularity to help amplify his voice!
Mr. President, I see you’ve had a busy morning of “Executive Time.” Instead of tweeting false smears, the American people would appreciate it if you turned off the TV and helped solve the funding crisis, protected Dreamers or…really anything else. https://t.co/lVqQRu2Gjl

8: Alyssa Milano (@Alyssa_Milano)
You’d have to be living on another planet to not know who Milano is, or why she deserves to be on this list. Having been a television and film star for most of her life, she is one of those rare celebrities that is not afraid to go all-in, literally driving people to the polls to vote against Roy Moore in the 2017 Alabama special election, helping to elect long-shot Democrat Doug Jones to the United States Senate. BOOM.
Phone banking for #GOTV4Doug! Jimmy you’re my hero!

9: Ron Perlman (@perlmutations)
Known as Clay Morrow in the hit TV series Sons of Anarchy, Perlman, like Milano, is another long-time actor that has literately zero fucks to give to anyone that does not appreciate his activism. He gives Trump Hell, and boy is The Resistance better for it. (Get it??)
Except this time he has the enthusiastic cooperation of the GOP Congress, the party of fiscal discipline!
Trump's America will be saddled with debt – like his bankrupted hotels were https://t.co/IrhHFmy4K9
— Ron Perlman (@perlmutations) February 9, 2018
10: The Hummingbird (@SaysHummingbird)
With 120,000 followers, The Hummingbird — another associate of the folks at ShareBlue media – is busy all day long, trolling Trump and pushing important content. Follow her, and help give her tweets wings!
If you'll RT anything, it must be this.

11: Mark Hamill (@HamillHimself)
So this dude should need no introduction, because he’s Mark effing Hamill. He’s a Trollhunter, so naturally his anti-Trump force is strong. He goes at Trump and Co. daily. Give him a follow and retweet him, now!

12: Me (@JamesReader_RP)
Ok, so maybe I’m not the biggest profile on Twitter, but I’m just getting warmed up. Give me a follow and I’ll do you proud, I promise.
— James Reader (@JamesReader_RP) October 11, 2017
13: Reverb Press (@ReverbPress)
Well obviously, we’re not going to make a list of Twitter influencers and not put ourselves on it! The folks at Reverb Press survive on social media shares (largely from Facebook), and we strive every day to bring you unapologetically progressive news and opinion that can stand up to the fact-checkers. Please follow us on Facebook and Twitter, and share our stories often, so that we can continue to survive in a challenging social media landscape.
— Reverb Press (@ReverbPress) August 17, 2017
Honorable Mentions: All of these accounts are also great to follow, and most of them will follow you back!
Although this list did include a couple elected officials and celebrities, we largely stuck to social media activists for the purposes of demonstrating that when you use your voice loudly in the struggle for an inclusive, representative democracy, you TOO can build an impressive following. Now, get to work!
UPDATE 2/10/18 – This list has been very popular and we are getting a lot of great suggestions for more great follows, please post them in the comments below!
