FBI Director Throws Cold Water On Clinton ‘Reddit’ Conspiracy Theory (VIDEO)
According to FBI Director James Comey, the Bureau has concluded that a computer technician strongly believed to be Platte River Networks specialist Paul Combetta, was not involved in a seedy cover-up when he sought assistance via Reddit for a means to wipe a “VIP” email address from an extensive file. That email address belonged to none other than the “VERY VIP” Hillary Rodham Clinton.
Republican legislators believe Combetta was up to no good when he posted his cry for assistance back in 2014, that he was attempting to hide, or at least mask, Clinton’s emails from authorities. Comey, however, concluded Wednesday at a House Judiciary Committee hearing that Combetta was merely trying to hide Clinton’s email address so the public couldn’t see it, not the authorities. Comey said:
“Our team concluded that what he was trying to do was when they produced emails not have the actual address but have some name or placeholder instead of the actual dot-com address in the ‘From:’ line.”
Committee Chairman Bob Goodlatte (R-Va.) isn’t quite so fast to trust Clinton’s team, though. He told Comey:
“This clearly demonstrates an action to destroy evidence by people operating Clinton’s private server and her staff.”
Combetta posted on Reddit in 2014, using the handle “Stonetear”:
“[I have a] very interesting situation where I need to strip out a VIP’s (VERY VIP) email address from a bunch of archived email that I have both in a live Exchange mailbox, as well as a PST file.”
Combetta went on to post:
“Basically, they don’t want the VIP’s email address exposed to anyone, and want to be able to either strip out or replace the email address in the to/from fields in all of the emails we want to send out.”

clinton, Combetta, and the emails
The big looming questions there seem to be who “they” are, specifically, and who “anyone” is—the public, or authorities. Combetta’s post can be interpreted either way.
Comey admits that he isn’t clear as to whether the FBI was aware of Combetta’s posting on Reddit at the time prosecutors handed him immunity for his statements regarding Clinton’s email scandal. He stated, however, that even if Combetta succeeded in deleting Clinton’s email address, it didn’t necessarily mean it was in order to “destroy evidence.” Come said:
“Not necessarily… It would depend what his intention was and why he wanted to do it.”
