‘We Need Gun Control RIGHT. NOW.’ Country Musician Caught In Vegas Massacre Reverses 2A Stance

Caleb Keeter Of The Josh Abbott Band Has Second Thoughts On 2nd Amendment After Las Vegas Attack

It will take a very long time before the full aftereffects of the tragic and horrifying massacre in Las Vegas are fully understood and play themselves out. But for one musician that played at the concert and experienced the terrifying reality of being on the wrong side of a mass shooting, the effect was rather swift.

Caleb Keeter of the Josh Abbott Band performed a set earlier in the day of the Route 91 Harvest festival and was still around when the shooting started. He briefly described his experience in a post on Twitter.

We actually have members of our crew with CHL licenses, and legal firearms on the bus.

They were useless.

We couldn’t touch them for fear police might think that we were part of the massacre and shoot us.

He went on to state that members of his crew received shrapnel wounds because the rounds were so powerful that anyone close to another victim was being wounded.

Keeter was direct about his stance on the Second Amendment and his change of heart. While he doesn’t specifically state what type of changes he would like to see in regards to gun control, he made it clear he wants to see more restrictions.

I’ve been a proponent of the 2nd amendment my entire life…I cannot express how wrong I was…Enough is enough…We need gun control RIGHT. NOW.

My biggest regret is that I stubbornly didn’t realize it until my brothers on the road and myself were threatened by it.

When a number of Twitter users pointed out he should have shown this empathy before and welcomed Keeter to the side of the political spectrum calling for more gun restrictions, he responded:

You are all absolutely correct. I saw this happening for years and did nothing. But I’d like to do what I can now.
