Donald Trump Just Can’t Quit Megyn Kelly
Trump continued his one-sided feud with the host of The Kelly File, Megyn Kelly, upon her return to her show after taking an 11-day vacation after the first round of the Republican Primary debates.
Kelly had come under fire for what some Foxbots viewed as an underhanded attack on their prized GOP front runner for asking The Donald how in the world he plans to become President by repeatedly and unapologetically making remarks about women’s looks and objectifying them sexually.
It was a fair question to ask considering Mitt Romney’s “binders full of women” remark landed the 2012 Republican presidential candidate in hot water, but Donald, being the man-sized toddler that he is, took her question personally after brushing the issue aside that not being able to objectify and demean professional women is just political correctness run amok.
Trump then implied that Kelly took personal issue with his remarks about women because she’s a woman, adding:
And honestly Megyn, if you don’t like it, I’m sorry. I’ve been very nice to you, although I could probably maybe not be, based on the way you have treated me. But I wouldn’t do that.
The last sentence became almost immediately ironic as Trump took to Twitter after the debate to berate the Fox host for daring to call out his misogyny. He then made a remark on CNN blaming the host for “bleeding from her wherever” as the reason she was so unfair to a man who has an ego as fragile as cheap glass.
The backlash to Fox was immediate. Thousands of Trump supporters took to comment sections on Fox and The Kelly File’s social media pages to voice their discontent with Kelly for asking such a biting question. In the Fox world, acknowledging sexism means it exists, and for the face of Fox News to suggest the favorite of the GOP race is sexist was too much for Foxbots to handle.
Kelly refused to apologize for her question and hasn’t responded to Trump’s childish attacks on her. She then left for an unscheduled vacation amid shrieking Conservatives and petitions calling for her to be fired from the Fox network and banned from moderating any further Republican debates.
Last night, The Kelly File host returned to her show. Donald Trump being Donald Trump did what Donald Trump does and continued to berate the host in 140 characters or less.
Trump may have been just a little bit jealous that Kelly chose to interview Dr. Ben Carson on her first night back. Dr. Carson is one of the top GOP candidates and serious competition for Trump.
Of course, Trump just had to retweet the more sexist tweets to disparage Kelly’s looks and intelligence. Because he’s Trump. He’s having a meltdown over Kelly calling him out for being sexist to women he doesn’t like, so he’s proving everybody right by being sexist to a woman he doesn’t like. Genius.
Adding the ironic cherry on top, Trump sets his self-awareness to zero:
Trump simply doesn’t possess enough self-introspection to realize that the last tweet sounds eerily like himself. Kelly asked a tough question of Trump, and instead of seizing the moment to make amends with women, Trump took the issue to the extreme without apology and has continued to nurse an obviously bruised ego by encouraging sexist attacks on Kelly in a coward’s fashion.
Kelly could very well be Trump’s undoing. If she continues to be a wall rather than try to play Trump’s game she’ll end up making him look like a bigger sexist bully than he already appeared to be.
It’s as if Trump doesn’t realize that women vote, and even Republican women don’t take kindly to potential future Presidents calling women “bimbos” and blaming toughness on menstruation.
