Militant Right Wing Hate Cult to Hold AR-15 Blessing After Parkland Massacre

Sanctuary Church Promises ‘Perfection Stage’ Blessing On AR-15s

Last week an anti-LGBT church in Pennsylvania, an offshoot of the infamous Moonie cult, encouraged its members to buy assault rifles. Seriously. And just like all sacred items important to religions, it seems those weapons of mass murder need one final touch: a blessing.

The Southern Poverty Law Center recently noted the initial “call to arms” by the Sanctuary Church in Newfoundland, Pennsylvania. A press release by the church informed members they could come with or without their weapons, but “to attend with an AR15 would be a substantial ‘perfection stage’ blessing.”

Now, the ceremony is still a go, despite the recent massacre at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Florida. The announcement on the church’s website specifically notes the ceremony is for “heterosexual couples” and, even if you don’t have a gun to be blessed yet, you can just bring a gift certificate.

Blessed couples are requested to bring the accouterments of the nation of Cheon Il Guk, crowns representing the sovereignty of Kings and Queens, and a “rod of iron,” designated by the Second King as an AR15 semiautomatic rifle or equivalents such as an AK semiautomatic rifle, representing both the intent and the ability to defend one’s family, community and “nation of Cheon Il Guk.”

If unable to purchase and legally transport such a “rod of iron” because of laws barring the purchase of such weapons, or other reasons, couples are invited to purchase a $700 gift certificate from a gun store, as evidence of their intent to purchase a “rod of iron” in the future.

It is scheduled for 10 A.M. on a Wednesday and has parents of children that attend a nearby school concerned for obvious reasons. A local news outlet, WNEP, spoke with some of the parents:

Just down the road from the church is Wallenpaupack South Elementary School with 280 students, plus teachers and staff. In light of recent gun violence at schools, the planned ceremony with assault weapons is concerning for parents.

“It’s something I would consider keeping my child home. It’s scary,” said Liz Zoccola.

“I wish they wouldn’t have it at all. I don’t think there’s a good time to have it, especially this close,” Kendra Hanor said.

The outlet noted the leader of the church also owns Kahr Arms, a gunmaker.

The church will also be holding a dinner in honor of apparent religious icon, Republican Donald Trump, this week. The SPLC additionally noted:

In fact, the Sanctuary Church is holding a “President Trump Thank You Dinner” on February 24, featuring Larry Pratt, executive director of Gun Owners of America. A website for the event declares “President Trump has stepped into his calling as God’s representative.”

So as communities recover from devastating mass shootings in high schools and churches, Sanctuary Church wants to make sure those weapons of mass murder have the special blessing of their god. Is this the kind of prayer conservatives want so badly back in schools? Just wondering…
