TN Tea Bagger Rick Womick Plans To Impeach Gov. Over SCOTUS Gay Marriage Ruling Because GOD
Just when you thought you had heard every possible angle in reference to the “Christian” opposition to the SCOTUS ruling on same-sex marriage, along comes another imbecilic elected official flagrantly displaying his stupidity while foisting his religious beliefs upon an entire state.
Right-wing lunatic Tennessee State Rep. Rick Womick, (R), in an astounding show of ignorance of the law, wants to start a rebellion to impeach TN Gov. Bill Haslam. Why? Because Haslam has not refused to observe the SCOTUS rulling on same-sex marriage, you heretical, heathen God-hater!
Would everyone please bow your heads and hold hands while we ignore the entire Supreme Court ruling?
Being that some people need a refresher course, here’s the last paragraph of the landmark decision:
No union is more profound than marriage, for it embodies the highest ideals of love, fidelity, devotion, sacrifice, and family. In forming a marital union, two people become something greater than once they were. As some of the petitioners in these cases demonstrate, marriage embodies a love that may endure even past death. It would misunderstand these men and women to say they disrespect the idea of marriage. Their plea is that they do respect it, respect it so deeply that they seek to find its fulfillment for themselves. Their hope is not to be condemned to live in loneliness, excluded from one of civilization’s oldest institutions. They ask for equal dignity in the eyes of the law. The Constitution grants them that right.
The Tea Party trouble-maker says “it’s time to give serious consideration to impeachment hearings against Gov. Haslam” as well as the justices. Alrighty, then. That’s a great use of taxpayer dollars there, Mr. Small Government.
Recently, on his Facebook page, Womick posted this painfully embarrassing tirade.
And where is Tennessee’s leadership…oh that’s right…our Governor bowed down to the five self appointed gods in black robes just minutes after they issued their “opinion!” He changed Tennessee state law and our State Constitution without ever consulting with the General Assembly. I think it’s time to give serious consideration to impeachment hearings against Gov. Haslam and these five rogue SCOTUS justices!
Womick also posted this video of South Carolina
evangelical preacher Senator Lee Bright, R-Spartanburg, during what was supposed to be a hearing about the Confederate flag. What he means by posting the video, I surmise, is that he’s trying to convey a “what he says” message. By all means, check out Bright’s Facebook page. You will not be disappointed.
From under what rock did this vermin crawl? Having no concept of the way U.S. law works, and not realizing that the U.S. is not yet a theocracy, Womick is basically calling for Haslam to join him in his act of sedition. Who in public service is not aware that Federal law supersedes state law? Or of the Establishment Clause?
Womick and his army of “Christian” zealot warriors want to make sure Haslam enforces the Tennessee Constitution and the tired, nearly ten year old amendment which states that the U.S. Supreme Court has no authority to rule on marriage and bans same-sex marriage in the state altogether. God is love, people! He must also be pretty lazy if he has to have this lot do his dirty work.
To illustrate how this Dumbass For Jesus finagled his way into office, here are a couple of posts from one of his more ardent supporters, via Facebook.
On July 14, during a phone interview with USA Today, Womick stated: “I am looking at impeachment proceedings.”
“He (Haslam) changed the constitution and changed state law without addressing the General Assembly,” said Womick, who lives in the Rockvale community southwest of Murfreesboro, otherwise known as BFE.
“He failed to uphold his oath to the state. He went and altered state law. He put homosexuals on marriages licenses.”
“He did not consult the General Assembly on any of this. He did this based on the five rogue justices in Washington, D.C. He doesn’t have that power, and, therefore, we are looking at impeachment proceedings.”
David Smith, a spokesman for Gov. Haslam, declined to comment on Womick’s chicanery. “Yeah,” Smith said. “I’m not going to respond to that.”
Womick continued: “I am working with (U.S. Rep.) Scott DesJarlais (yes, THAT Scott Desjarlais) to impeach those five justices,”
DesJarlais, a fellow Teabagger darling from South Pittsburg, aka BFE as well, acknowledged that he listened to what Womick had to say about the impeachment idea.
“A lot of people in Tennessee were disappointed with the Supreme Court’s decision and feel that it was a step in the wrong direction for states rights,” DesJarlais said. “He contacted me about the idea, and I did not have answers for him.”
Even that cretin doesn’t want to get the stench of this nonsense on him. A sign to Mr. Womick if I’ve ever seen one.
Womick has been no stranger to negative attention and idiocy during his tenure as State Representative. In 2013, he requested special secret security clearance to be evacuated in case of a electromagnetic pulse (EMP). That’s a thing, you know.
In 2014, during a meeting with members of the Nashville Chapter of Moms Demand Action, he pulled a handgun from his desk. Firearms are not allowed in the TN statehouse, but Womick said he was exempt from that rule because he “works in law enforcement”. (This writer has a little inside info on this incident. I am a member of that Moms group, and the story was recounted during a meeting the evening after it happened.)
In early 2015, he co-sponsored TN HBHRJ0071, which “Proposes an amendment to the Constitution of Tennessee recognizing that our liberties do not come from governments, but from Almighty God, our Creator and Savior.” He also co-sponsored TN HB0615, which would have deemed The Holy Bible as the official state book of Tennessee. The bill did not pass.
He is also well-known state-wide for his strong anti-woman, anti-choice legislation.
For the sake of all Tennesseans, may cooler heads prevail.
