Obama Warns That World Leaders Are ‘Rattled’ By The Psychotic Rhetoric Of Donald Trump

President Obama fears world leaders are ‘rattled’ with Trump’s candidacy

During a press conference in the G7 summit on Thursday, President Barack Obama said that world leaders are “rattled” by Donald Trump’s candidacy “for good reason.” Obama mentioned the importance that has been given to the American presidential election abroad, which he says has been closely watched. Yet he did not refrain from addressing the surprise among world leaders at Donald Trump being the presumptive Republican nominee. Obama added, according to Politico:

“They are not sure how seriously to take some of his pronouncements but they’re rattled by him — and for good reason, because a lot of the proposals that he’s made display either ignorance of world affairs or a cavalier attitude or an interest in getting tweets and headlines instead of actually thinking through what it is that’s required to keep America safe, secure and prosperous, and what’s required to keep the world on an even keel.”

Although he remains confident the Republican candidate will lose the election, he made sure to express his opinion about the billionaire tycoon; emphasizing his entertainment character and his complete ignorance about politics and U.S. foreign policy. In the time he’s been running, Trump has managed to attack two important U.S. commercial allies, China and Mexico, and has spoken against Muslims and what he considers a “horrendous” deal with Iran. Meanwhile, he’s interested in talking with North Korea.

He has also threatened London’s new mayor and told UK Prime Minister David Cameron that relations will not be friendly.

According to The Guardian, Obama’s comments on Trump are shared by people living in countries friendly to the U.S. A new YouGov poll says that 62% of people polled inside Britain were “concerned” with Trump’s ideas, while 75% “dislike or hate” his politics and 38% said his views and comments made them feel “sick to the stomach”.

Obama did not go into detail on Trump’s mistakes and actions that have world leaders on edge. He did, however, share their concern about a possible Trump presidency, for the consequences would be extremely negative on the global stage. Trump’s national spokeswoman Katrina Pierson responded to Obama’s comments on CNN’s New Day:

World leaders are “rattled, because the gravy train ends if Mr. Trump becomes president. There are several problems we have inside our country that needs to be addressed. Meanwhile, we have trade deficits, we’re spending hundreds of billions of dollars in defense for countries whose are using that money essentially for socialism.”

It is not news that Donald Trump has damaged the image and credibility of the U.S., both inside as well as abroad. His ignorance and bigotry, his incoherence and stupidity are of real concern both to Americans as well as to the entire world. To see such a powerful country like the United States turned into a reality show with a terrible leading actor has been extremely disappointing. And while not everything is perfect inside the Democratic race, the fact that the U.S. President speaks publicly, at such an important international event, against the Republican candidate says a lot, and certainly nothing positive.
